Since the inception of “The Scampering Scarecrow Violin Book”, Garth Williams has written the same pieces for viola and cello, as well as duets and string orchestra arrangements. This particular piece has a unique, bouncy tune which is presented and then combines with the Christmas Carol “Silent Night”. The arrangement is such that all members of the orchestra have an opportunity to play the melody in the piece. This is very satisfying to viola and cello players who generally get
have inner harmony parts. In addition, there is an additional Violin III part for those players who are not quite ready to handle the viola part. The piano part also adds an additional depth if certain instruments are missing. It may be used for both rehearsal and performance. The young members of the orchestra will enjoy learning and performing this piece. A fun time in class!
